A fake video purporting to show Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 missing submerged in water has been characterized by a scam eager to take advantage of the disaster greedy marketing.
The video, titled "Date of the video: Malaysian Air Flight MH370 Found ago by marine times," circulating in Facebook and in the article "news", with the caption is Mystery solved - Sailor Awarded $ 5 million in cash.
The picture accompanying the article is actually a photo of U.S. Airways Flight 1549, which crashed into the Hudson River in January 2009.
Once the victim clicks on the link that comes with the video, the victim should be taken to a false Facebook account indicating the first page must be shared with Facebook friends before the user can see the video.
"But even if you expressed following the instructions, you still have to watch the video" the team behind online monitoring Scam Hoax-slayer.com said.
"After sharing, you are informed that you need to fill out a survey as a form of age verification. Alas, no matter how many surveys you complete, you'll never see the promised video, which has never existed to begin with."
Scams are deceptive marketing programs to generate money amounts actions create their Facebook pages. More people become victims and more people share the video scam, their Facebook pages are shared.
It's just one of many similar scams video messages specific Facebook users.
"Beware of any article that says you can see below, breaking or shocking video by clicking a link or button to play the video," The Hoax-slayer.com team added.
